TILAPIA FARMING SUPPORT TOOL

Gertjan de Graaf (NEFISCO, Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and Pieter Dekker (Xi, Delft, the Netherlands), developed an Individual Based Tilapia Farming Simulation Model. This model was used to develop a TILAPIA FARMING SUPPORT TOOL (TFST)

The final development of the TFST programme was commissioned by the project Policy Advice for Sustainable Fisheries, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

TFST was build in MATLAB, the present version can simulate:

• Mixed or mono-culture of Tilapia, with a local or a GIFT strain.
• It is extended for the poly culture with predators such as the African Catfish and the African Snakehead
• Further TFST provides basic economic/financial results, depending on the financial parameters you provided
• It provides the optimal rearing system after you have entered your own data
